ReplyDeleteI had a really great time at the technology center. It was probably the most informatve class we have had this semester because everything was hands on. I realized that you have to be extreamly creative and think outside the box in order to effectively teach children with special needs.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad we went to the Technology Center. It was a very good experience that opened my eyes to tools that are used for people who are not capable of doing something.
ReplyDeleteSo after going to the technology center, I got curious about what options there are like this around home in Indiana. So I "googled" it, of course. I came across something called ATTAIN (an acronym). ATTAIN: Assistive Technology Through Action in Indiana is a statewide technology support program that promotes the availability and use of assistive technology for people of all ages and disabilities. It oversees an equipment exchange network, assistive technology evaluations, information and referral, training, and education programs.
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see we had this, because I had no idea. I'm now currently looking into possible volunteer opportunities for the summer while I am home through this organization.
Favorite class... It was so interesting to see all of the things we will be using to accomodate many children in our classroom. It was so cool to actually work with all of the different toys/technology and to think about how we will use them in the classroom. I think it is a must for everyone to take a trip there that will be working in the education field!
