Lack of Communication

Over the weekend I saw first hand how important communication can be, and how the lack of communication can have negative effects. My Grandfather was admitted into the hospital Friday morning around 9:00 am. No one called to inform me that he was in the hospital until almost 4:00 pm. Thankfully, it was nothing too serious and he is now back at home. However, the situation could have easily been worse and potentially caused tension between family members.

  1. I'm glad your grandpa is alright. On my wedding night, my wife's grandpa's defibrillator went off in his chest so they rushed him to the hospital. My wife didn't know and they told me not to tell her. I was so stressed out because i knew i had to eventually tell her. He ended up being fine though and i told her anyway by the end of the night.

  3. First of all, I'm not good with computers because I just deleted my comment. Ha. Anyway, Danny.. were you keeping this information from your wife during the ceremony, or did you find out after? Because I couldn't imagine keeping that kind of information during my wedding and being stressed like that! Everyone there would have known something was wrong with me.. My facial expressions would have communicated that! I've never been good with hiding my emotions! I'm glad her grandpa was okay, though. And Courtney, I'm glad yours is okay, too!

  5. I had a simular experience. My dad was put into the hospital after he passed out one night after dinner. I had no knowledge of what was going on at home since I am away at college. When my parents came to visit and told me about it I felt very hurt knowing that they did not communicate the problem with me. They also told me the same night that my pet ferret died a week ago. How horrible?! But I forgave them and just told them they need to keep me in the loop. My dads excuse for not communicating with me was because he wanted me to focus on school and not worry about stress from home. I would have rather had the communication and known what was going on. Communication is key to a relationship of any kind.

  6. Communication in this sense is very important. I received a call from my mother after class Thursday night saying that my sister was on her way to Louisville to Kosair Children's Hospital to have her appendix removed. I then had to communicate to my teachers and my boss that I wouldn't be in class or at work the following day. Communication here was a big deal. If my boss did not know I wasn't working, I could have been fired.
