On my way home...

After class last night I drove back home to Ohio for the weekend. On the way there I got cut off and honked my horn at the car in front of me. I stopped and thought, man that was just communication. I did not have to say anything, sign anything, give a certain look or even make eye contact. The car in front of me knew I was honking at him and why I was honking. Who knew we communicated that much...

  1. Communicating while on the road is extremely important, but before reading this the thought never occured to me. Since you honked your horn at the car infront of you, that might make that person pay more attention while driving from now on....or at least the rest of that trip.

  3. haha if that was you Mrs. White you need to retake your driving test. :] But yes, I think communication on the road is key. It lets people know to pay more attention like you said Courtney. Even giving the middle finger is a way of communicating within a vehicle.

  4. It is really interesting that it occurred to you that you were communicating and as I think about it I guess turn signals and all that counts as communicating too. This just gets me thinking of all the ways we don't even realize we communicate. Thanks for sharing and getting me thinking :]

  5. I agree that communication on the road is very important. My horn is my favorite thing in my car, and I love to honk it at anyone who I think is not driving right! It has also saved me from a few wrecks.

  7. It is so amazing how we never think about how much that we communicate with one another, but then you step into a classroom where you are having to look into the ways we communicate, and why we communicate that way, and then all of a sudden you are noticing all kinds of different ways that we interact witht the people around us.
