Will we have any visitors this semester? Maybe a workshop class with a teacher of children with communication disabilities, a speech pathologist, a pannel of different people with experience etc. Might be an interesting idea for the end of the semester...#Imjustsayin
Visitors to a class often provide "real world connections." The real world connections that are apart of the curriculum are: A mom and her son who has Downs Syndrome, a Deaf adult, our field trip to the Blue Grass Technology Center (you'll meet a parent and adult with various challenges there) and your own observation in a school setting.
ReplyDeleteCertainly will attempt to tie in others as well.
You never know when Sekoe might pop in - but no promises can be made.
I am looking forward to our visitors very much! I think that making those real world connections will really help to bridge the gap from what we are learning to applying it in the field, regardless of what our major is.
ReplyDeleteI am personally really excited about the Blue Grass Technology Center. Not only because it is a field trip (which I havent been on since 7th grade!) but technology is such a wonderful tool that we as educators can utilize to help reach our students. I am not technology savy, but I think this real world application will open my eyes to how I can use innovative technology in my own classroom.
