Shoe box activities

Shoe box activities are a great idea for children with special needs. We use them in a FMD room that I worked it. You can go to youtube and type in shoe box activities and you can get some example on how to make them. There good for elem. age students, it helps with small and fine motor skill.

  1. Shoe boxes are a great way to help students make diorama's. If you allow students to present information in different ways such as instead of a written report, the student may choose an oral report with a diorama, shoe boxes make exellent materials to make then and the can make several to show different scenes of a story. The hard part is finding shoe boxes, so be flexible and use many different types of boxes and sizes!! It can really showcase a student's other abilities and builds confidence for the student.

  4. I'm with Macey, I've never heard of these before but they do sound interesting! Letting students do these instead of written reports or such sounds great. They'll be able to be creative and show off what they've learned.
